When ex-007 Pierce Brosnan had to wear tights in new film

14 Feb

London, February 13: Former James Bond Pierce Brosnan has spoken about his experience when he had to get into a pair of tights for his new film Percy Jackson And The Lightning Thief.

The Hollywood heartthrob was made to fit into the bright blue pair as he played Chiron, a centaur – half man, half horse – in director Chris Columbus’ new family action-adventure.

“I play a teacher, Professor Brunner, who’s a paraplegic philosopher of the gods and then he goes into this ‘other’ world where he becomes this powerful horse’s a*s,” the Mirror quoted Brosnan as saying.

“Christopher, he was a clever b****r – he sent me this script with a beautiful artist’s impression of me as Chiron, looking great and fantastic and brilliantly buffed and I thought ‘I’m goood, this is splendid!’

“So, of course I said ‘yes’ and then we came to the moment of glory (filming the scenes) and I’ve got good leather straps here and there (pointing to his chest) and buckles and knives and a sword, but then I had to get into tights, so they could put the horse’s a*s on me.

“You know it’s not easy to be all butch up here and look down and you’ve got tights on,” the star added.

Light-emitting material developed

Light-emitting material developed

London: Soon you could plaster your walls and ceilings with light-emitting paper – thanks to a new super material that can be produced from liquid solutions. The new material is helping researchers design a new type of low cost and fully recyclable lighting component.
They are developing an alternative to ultra-thin, power-saving organic light diodes (OLEDs), recently introduced in cell phones, cameras, and super-thin TVs.
The alternative is an organic light-emitting electrochemical cell (LEC), which is much cheaper to produce, with the transparent electrode being made of graphene, a carbon material.
An OLED comprises light-generating layer of plastic placed between two electrodes, one of which must be transparent.
The latter presents a problem because indium is both rare (more…)

Priyanka, Ash Who’s Hottest ?

Well, Vipul Amrutlal Shah, who’s given hit films like Singh is Kingg and Namastey London and National Award winner Madhur Bhandarkar are doing just that by associating themselves with Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2010. The directors will identify, mentor and launch two Miss India finale contestants in their respective and upcoming films. Now if that doesn’t motivate the girls, what will!

But if you thought only the beauty pageant’s contestants would be excited, think again. Even the directors are geared up to find the face they would like to be the next sensation. Vipul believes that this initiative is like a reward for the girls for the efforts they are going to put in. “Most of them take part in this  pageant so that they can become part of Hindi cinema. So this makes it a clear cut process for us as well as for them,” he says. Agrees Madhur, “I have been on the panel of this pageant thrice and I think it’s great that we can now pick and choose the girls according to the characters we have in (more…)

Dr Aafia Siddiqui Deprived of Justice

9 Feb

Many of us are still in a state of shock over the guilty verdict returned on Dr Aafia Siddiqui.

The response from the people of Pakistan was predictable and overwhelming and I salute their spontaneous actions.

From Peshawar to Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and beyond they marched in their thousands demanding the return of Aafia.

Even some of the US media expressed discomfort over the verdict returned by the jurors … there was a general feeling that something was not right.

Everyone had something to say, everyone that is except the usually verbose US Ambassador Anne Patterson who has spent the last two years briefing against Dr Aafia and her supporters.

This is the same woman who claimed I was a fantasist when (more…)
